The incident narrated here is not an imagination or a piece of fiction. It actually happened in our house during Diwali days. We were scared and horrified at that point of time. But when we think of it or narrate it , it sounds to be funny and hilarious.
It was a day before Diwali. We slept after a hectic day. In the morning at 50'clock when my husband got up, he got a shock and called me. I started screaming at the pitch of my voice after I witnessed the scene. The grill and wire mesh were cut. The whole room was littered with covers of chocolates, biscuits, cakes and skins of fruits. On the sofa we found broken pieces of biscuits, dry fruits and sweets. Obviously we had a visit by strangers in the night, who could not open any door, decided to have a party.

DeleteThere are all kinds of strangers in the night! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you one thousandandtwo. You are correct, there are all sorts of strangers at night.
DeleteOh my what crazy sadist people taking so much of liberty , I can imagine your anxiety. But it made a curious little story!
ReplyDeleteThank you Padmaja. That day we were very much disturbed. Now we find it amusing.
DeleteOh! Gosh! This so scary and disturbing when I think bout...I would have died instantly..once robbers barged in the house of my relatives-uncle is a dentists and the strangers in the night wiped off the whole clinic. They were happy that they are still alive considering they were fast asleep.
ReplyDeleteYes Vishal, it was really scary. We were all (six of us) at home, but none of us knew. Your uncle's robbery incident is really scary.
DeleteRobbers broke into your house to have a party! That sounds crazy!
ReplyDeleteYes Rekha, it sounds scary now. But that day we were really shocked.
DeleteOMG! That's scary!! But what guts the robbers had... to rob and party too in a house which had its residents inside!
ReplyDeleteYes Shilpa It was really shocking.
DeleteThat is so scary!! I can't believe they took the time to have a party while they were there. Glad you are safe! ♥
ReplyDeleteYes Kathy, we were shaken very badly. God protected us.
DeleteFirst I thought it must be rats, then as I read the comments, I realised it was a robbery! Thank god that you all are safe.
ReplyDeleteYes Gayu, The purpose was robbery. In the Living room there is nothing that could be stolen microwave, frig, sofa set etc. Perhaps they sprayed some gas from the window so we did not have any inkling.
DeleteSo much happened and you guys didn't hear anything? You must've had a very tired day! This experience you shared is like a wake up call to everyone of us to be more cautious and safeguard ourselves with the modern day security gadgets!
ReplyDeleteCharan we had taken all precautions,We had security alarm, but perhaps the wire was snapped. They enterd from the living room and could not enter any other rooms because they were secured very well. It appears they sprayed some gas from our bedroom window. the glass of the window was removed,It was found wrapped in some cloth on a chair in balcony. After this incident we kept a dog.
DeleteUshaji, I've always thought that such incidents can only happen in movies, but this incident is really shocking!! Glad to hear you have a dog now!!
DeleteThe robbing breed is itself gutsy, these robbers seem super gutsy in that they have even partied and littered the place. This post is a reminder for us to be super alert at all times.
ReplyDeleteThank you Asha. Yes we must always be alert.
DeleteWow! Usha-ji, it's such a beautiful and sweet story. I enjoyed every word:)
ReplyDeleteThank you Vishal, but it is a real incident, which we encountered.
DeleteYou are right...at that point of time anyone would have got a shock...
ReplyDeleteAn interesting post
Yes Sheela. At that time we were scared and shocked.
DeleteAt least, they could enjoy their Diwali at your home :D even though they scared the wits out of you :)
ReplyDeleteAnd an answer to Charan above, yes such things happen only in movies, and robbers are people who watch movies too :D :D ( just kidding ).
Jokes apart, it must have been really really frightening to witness the havoc the next morning, and remaining clueless as to what actually transpired...
Well narrated, Ma'm :)
Yes Sreeja it was very frightening . For many days after that I could not sleep. Now we have a hearty laugh when we remember that night.
