Gratitude
is a beautiful word. We exist in the world and enjoy the fruits of love of our
dear friends , relatives, neighbors ,our teachers and any one whom we come into contact with in our every day life. When we get a
compliment from any one we feel
delighted. On our part we must express our
gratitude.
Right from birth we are dependent on our parents for everything.
On our part this is something we should be grateful to them for and look after
their needs in old age when they become
old and infirm
“I can survive for two months on the compliments’’,said Mark Twain.
Everybody has heard the story of the lion and the rat. A rat once
entered a thick forest .He saw a lion in deep sleep. He jumped on the body of the lion and ran over it. He enjoyed
playing on the lion’s body. Suddenly the lion woke up,and pulled the little rat
under his feet. The poor rat struggled to free himself, but could not even
move! He begged the lion to release him. The lion did not relent. The rat told him, "Please leave
me.. Whenever you are in trouble, I will help you. I am such a small thing. Your hunger will not be
satiated." The lion thought in his mind , "I will leave you. It is impossible
for you to help me in a difficult situation , I order you not to come
in front of me hereafter, otherwise your
life will be in danger. Now get lost." The rat hurriedly rushed away. The
next day some circus people caught the lion and tied him with a rope.
Next day the rat happened to cross that circus. The lion looked at him helplessly. The rat jumped on the body of
the lion
and without any delay
cut the rope with which the lion was tied. The rat showed his gratitude!!
As we grow we come in contact with many people, from all walks of life.
Now gratitude becomes a matter of give
and take. We must make it a point to express gratitude
to the person who has been instrumental
in our progress in the journey of life. Basically gratitude is
thankfulness. Thank God for the life you are leading,
the food that you get, for the well
being of you and your family. Every
morning when you get up, start your day with thanks giving to GOD . You could even maintain a diary
enlisting the good you did for others and the effect of your good deeds
meted out to others. It will bring happiness to both, the giver and the receiver. So be thankful for little things also and never fail to express your gratitude for someone.
Could not agree more with your words. Gratitude is everything.
ReplyDeleteindeed, we need to be more thankful of people... it spreads good will too.
ReplyDeleteHow are you now Usha ji?
yes. :) I express that gratitude whenever I can. unless I fall asleep inadvertently, I do it in a small prayer before I go to bed :) wonderful words. well said!
ReplyDeletegood to see you back, Usha ji. :) hope you are even more better now.
Hello there.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, we should always express gratitude but all praise and gratitude should go to God first, because out of love, He gave us the wonderful gift of life. His Word, the Bible, encourages us to display loving kindness at all times, even to our enemies (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a). Why? Because God is love (1John 4:8).
Thanks for sharing.
Entrepreneurial Goddess
This is becoming rare now a days. if at all one possesses gratitude his busy schedule
ReplyDeleteallots him no slot to express it. Nicely written the story, though it is an old-told story.
I love this story, Usha ji. One I tell my daughter often to drive home the moral of gratitude. Good to see you back and posting. Hope you are feeling better now :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the story! Its important to have compassion and showing gratitude is a step towards that.
ReplyDeleteHaving gratitude helps one to really be awake to all one's blessings--the more grateful we are, the more we feel blessed! I love the scripture that says, "And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments."
ReplyDeleteThank You for all the love and affection that you have showered me with over the last 19 years!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts like always, Usha Ma'am:)
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the story of the lion and the rat. There are so many lessons in that one. Gratitude is uplifting and living in gratitude brings happiness. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteGratitude is a great virtue. It is important to express gratitude for not only big things, but also small things. :) And I'm grateful that you have recovered and hopefully feeling real well. <3
