Humility

HUMILITY

“True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” C.S.lewis

Humility is a great virtue. People who forget that they have risen from from scratch to riches are selfish. They conveniently forget those who helped them to reach the pinnacle of glory, Such people ultimately have a fall.      The real gentleman has his head in its place. He is considerate and understands the  reality of life. He thinks from the point of a helpless person. There are many highly placed people who had a humble beginning, but have their feet firmly on the ground We have heard the incident of Lord Rama, when He happily ate the berries given to him by a poor woman Shabri. She first took a bite.  if it was sweet, she gave to the Lord.It was the humility of the Lord  that he ate the berries, given  with devotion.

In real life there are numerous examples of people working in very high ranks  who are very humble. Milk  of humility flows in their veins. Actually pride is our biggest drawback and humility a greatest asset. We must not let go our humble disposition. To cultivate humility one has to make concerted efforts.  Humility is not inborn. To succeed in public life, in  high positions,  and  to maintain good relations in society, one must practice the norms of humility.

There is a famous story of  King Mahabali, who was a very humble and large hearted king. It was due to these  inherent qualities that he became immortal.

  2. Humility is a great virtue, for sure. Living in the USA it's one that we don't see very frequently, but I always value it when someone shows they have it!
