INNOCENCE
An innocent face, an innocent smile and an innocent demeanour
is a gift of God. When I think of innocence, I think of small children bereft of
all guiles. The scheming and calculating behaviour becomes apparent with the growing up of a child. How sad that
the children lose their virtuous smile and adopt a calculative and
conniving attitude which reflects on the face. Given below is a photograph depicting an innocent smile of a baby.
Children are not at all manipulative. Whatever is in
their mind comes out. Even in a trying situation they will innocently tell the
truth.I remember an incident when my son
was in class two.I gave him laddos for his tiffin. We had arranged a taxi to leave him and bring him back fom school That day when
the the taxi came back sonny was not there.I became extremely panicky . I was questioning the taxi driver, when I saw that he was walking
with the school bag, heavier than him.
When I
asked him why he did not come out for the taxi, he replied innocently
that he was eating ladoos. I felt so
guilty . Knowingly that he hated ladoos I put pressure on him to finish them.
Innocently he sat there to eat them.
I realised that as elders we must not put undue pressure on the chilren to do something which they don’t like. Let the children remain children; don't force them to become adults.

Quite true :) We can't force some choices on kids.
ReplyDeleteChildren are indeed innocent which is why we love them so much! Or at least speaking for myself (though I imagine I'm not the only one!) ;) And yes, kids ideally should be nurtured to be children, not pressured to be mini-adults! <3
ReplyDeleteYes,true as the soft flower turns finally to fruit some with hard shells. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true, Ushaji. There is nothing as pure as innocence and it takes no time to vitiate that purity. Really wish children would remain innocent always.
ReplyDeleteAnd it would have been great of these innocence lasted forever. :)
ReplyDeleteInnocence is so endearing in children. Hope it lasts for a bit longer, though given the times we live in, the kids become 'worldly wise' pretty soon!
