''Great thoughts speak only to the thoughtful mind, but great actions speak to all mankind.''
Words, spoken
softly , always move the heart of a
listener and the same words, when spoken
harshly leave a bitter taste in the mouth. The words may be the same but bitter and harsh words
act as sharp knife .
Even a
small child understands the difference very
well. If the mother shouts at the
child, asking him to drink milk, the child will throw tantrums, but the same
order, if given gently, will be
followed instantly. With one word softly spoken
you can control an army, but
harsh words will not take you
anywhere. The word, ‘please’ can result in wonders.
Harsh words create misunderstanding between couples,
relatives, and friends. Such misunderstandings can lead to permanent animosity.
The person who always utters harsh words will
never get peace of mind and is likely to get heart diseases.
In offices we find many of these species. They have
made it their nature to
address their subordinates very
rudely, which is very insulting to them. Even when they call them, they
address them in a very demeaning way, which is very insulting for the
juniors. Such
people are seen with hatred. Just
by one soft word, you can win over the
other person.
Many parents also speak harshly with their children. On
one side we teach our children to be respectful
and decent while talking to
others, we ourselves call them ‘stupid’
‘blockhead’ etc. which makes the
child’s tender heart wonder how there
are different norms for adults and children.
Hurt people, hurt people. That's how pain patterns get
passed on, generation after generation after generation. Break the chain today.
Meet anger with sympathy, contempt with compassion and cruelty with kindness.
Greet grimaces with smiles. Forgive and forget about finding fault. Love is the
weapon of the future’’. ~Yehuda Berg :)

Your father was a wise man, loved the quote he used to say. Rudeness is not an attractive quality to possess.

ReplyDeleteHappy words paint endless smiles, and swallow troubles whole. But hurtful words are such that pierce the heart and weigh the soul. Loved the quote from D Tutu too :)

DeleteWell said and such wise lessons for life.
ReplyDeleteLife is too short to let harsh life ruin relationships. Respect matters a lot and speaks volume about a person. Your father was a learned man and respect begets respect, can wring change in a person or organisation:)
