If you have an experience of driving on the roads of Delhi, this article may not come as a surprise to you. Those who live in Delhi and drive every day to work, can very much relate to this article. I may mention that every type of vehicles are allowed on Delhi roads. Delhi, being the capital of the country, has Embassies of all countries. You find all modes of traffic on Delhi roads. limousines, ordinary cars trucks, buses, tongas, bullock carts ( i can feel some people in awe. This is not the end) cycle rickshaws, cycles, auto rickshaws, bicycles, and many more, on the roads of Delhi.
There is no end to the traffic on the roads. If you are new to Delhi and have successfully reached your destination, you should be eligible for a special award, but at the same time your blood pressure would have shot up. As per traffic rules, you are supposed to keep to the left, but in Delhi you can drive left, right or even middle of the road. Drivers drive like maniacs. Even though there are traffic signals, many people jump the signal. As soon as the signal turns green, there is all confusion. In a hurry to cross the signal, people overtake from left, right or even from the middle.
Everybody seems to be in a hurry. Hence there is all chaos. All modes of traffic has to cross through the same signal.Even though pedestrian crossings are marked, but rarely the motorists wait for the pedestrians to cross the road.
During office hours the condition is worse. Motorists have to wait at traffic signals for a long time,during which the traffic becomes unmanageable.Just have a look at the condition of the traffic
God forbid, if the signal is not working, the condition becomes free for all. It is a perfect condition for accidents.
In the last 15 to 20 years many fly overs have been built. With the increase in the number of fly overs, the traffic has also multiplied.All this depicts the grim traffic situation.
After the introduction of Delhi Metro it was expected that there will be a drastic change in the situation. Yes, for some time there was perceptible change, but with the over growing population the things are back to normal. Many more lines are being added to enhance the Metro services.

DeleteIt's not Delhi alone, Bangalore is as bad or even worse, with too many cars and deteriorating roads, it's the similar story for me each day when I drive to work :( how we hate traffics

Yes Tina, traffic problems are there in all cities. It is because the number of vehicles have increased.
DeleteI had always thought bangalore had the worst traffic but then we went to delhi for a pleasure trip and the traffic there drove me nuts!!
