Enjoying the seven days of the week.

Enjoying  the seven days of the week

Hi, everybody! On the first day of the festival of words, I am  elated and full of excitement.
We have all grown listening and reciting  the following lines about the days  of the week:-
Mondays child is fair of face.
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child  has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay
We used to tease each other  regarding the day one was born. Well this festival will last for seven days and we will enjoy writing our posts on all the seven days.HURRAH!It is a mystery how and when the days of the  week came into existence. It is believed that  a week  originated  before the Biblical  times. The days of the week are derived from the names of Gods and Planets. Thus  the names of the days were based as follows

                                                  Sunday is  derived from SUN
                                                 Monday is  derived from   MOON
                                                 Tuesday is      derived from   MARS
                                                 Wednesday  is  derived from MERCURY
                                                  Thursday  is  derived  from JUPITER
                                                  Friday   is     derived  from  VENUS
                                                  Saturday is       derived from  SATURN
Seven is considered to be a  holy number. It is believed that there are seven heavens and seven heavenly palaces. There are seven wonders of the  world, seven notes in music. Let us all enjoy the seven days of festival of writing. Here we go!!

  2. Hi. The days of the week! I was reminded of my childhood evening prayers. My mother used to make us say the days of the week among several other things in both English and Malayalam everyday before our prayers. I had included French when I was learning the same.

I proudly say I am child who is loving and giving .. :)
