Travel

It is in the nature of human beings that they love to  travel. We all like to visit different places, experience new scenic beauty, meet  people of all kinds, flavour  new type of food and satisfy our yearning for a change. I have travelled  all most all parts of India and gained  a lot  of  knowledge of various  places. I have travelled by road, by train and by air. The beauty of some places, the architecture of some other places and the scenic beauty of  some selected places is etched in my mind.  Since the last two years I  have developed a sort of emotion to confine myself within the four walls of home. I get goosebumps on the very prospect of going out of  the house.
On the basis of  my experience of travelling  far and wide I  am jotting down some dos and don'ts when you leave your house.
1.Plan your journey ahead. The itenary  must be clear in your mind.
2. If you are travelling by train or by air, book your tickets in advance for onward and also return journey..
3.If small children are travelling with you, keep pure water, milk, biscuits, and chocolates handy.
4. Keep some essential medicines eg. for headache, stomach ache, cold, pain, and fever.
5.Don't keep too many clothes, if you are going for holidaying. If you are going for some function you must carry clothes judiously.
6. Don't carry gold ornaments with you.
7.  Don't keep too much cash. You can use credit card or get  cheques  encashed  wherever you go.
8.If you are  going to stay with friends or relatives, carry your towel, tooth paste, soap etc. In case you are staying in a hotel, these necessities are provided.
9.When going out for sight seeing, it is better if someone familiar accompanies you.
10.If you are staying with a friend or a  family, carry some token gift. It will be appreciated
11.Don't be a burden on your host by dictating your requirements. Adjust with their life style.
12.Keep your room tidy, arrange the bed, fold your clothes, and hang the towels properly.
13.If your host has planned to take you around, do not insist on going to places of your choice.
14.If there are servants in your host's house, don't forget to give them some tip when you are leaving.
15. After returning send a thank you note or a call the host to thank them.
16.Invite them to your house.

  6. Yes Usha we all love travelling. The most important thing is to carry less clothes, as we tend to use the same dress like jeans with different tops, it is a waste to carry more things. Instead if we keep our suitcase little light we might have place to keep thing which we might like to buy for the places visited. The tip of carrying medicines are also very good, I always carry, one never knows how the change of weather/ water might affect us.
I hate when people don't bring their own towel and soap when they come as guests, it is not a hotel, and they should not act as if it is the duty of the host to give these things which can be easily brought by the guest if they plan to stay for quite some time.
    Nice reading about your tips.

  8. Excellent pointers! A thank you note is such a small thing but it does wonders. I remember a friend sent a wonderful message after staying with us for a few days and it made our days! And yes, the last one is so important too. While, people love visiting other people's homes, but inviting them to their own homes is something they keep quiet about!

  9. If all your 16 points are adhered to then travelling would be really enjoyable. Many people in their excitement forget to carry medicines. Once we forgot our medicine kit and we had to hunt for a medical shop in Mahableshwar.
