zest for books

ZEST FOR BOOKS
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of  counsellors, and the most patient of teachers.”
 Charles William Eliot

According to the Dictionary the meaning of the word ‘zest’ is zeal or enthusiasm for something. You can be enthusiastic  about new recipes or good food. Some people  have a zest  sports activities. I have a zest for books. This zest is not limited to any particular type of books. I can read any kind of books , whether a fiction, autobiographies, or mythology. The  books which I can read any number of times without getting bored are classics. The old world charm of these books is  really endearing. Rebecca, Jane Iyer, and Pride and  and Prejudice. These days I am reading Chetan Bhagat’s  ‘’Two States’’. I have read it earlier, but  can never get tired of reading it. My books are my greatest  asset which I have collected over the years.
You  can even read a book or even purchase them online. Books are a person’s best friend. They provide you knowledge of every thing on earth. Books are your best friends. What ever may be your mood, the books that you read  have the capacity to boost your spirit. Some characters are so lovable, you feel like meeting them again again.

I remember the words of Francis Bacon “Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.”
 Francis Bacon

yoga

Every one wants to have  good health whether from the masses  or the  classes. The word yoga has been derived from  the  Sanskrit word   yuj, Yoga means union of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness .It is a 3000 thousand years old body of knowledge.  Yogic exercises  are believed to be  so pronounced and effective that some believe that even a disease like cancer can be cured with the help of  yoga.
For many years yoga was confined to Ashrams and places where Sanskrit was taught. It was in the mid 80’s that yoga became a compulsory subject in all Delhi schools. It was like  a wave  which overpowered Delhi. Since then there is no looking back.  Yoga   reached  every house of Delhi. It was a great impetus for this subject.
There was another interesting angle, associated with the introduction of Yoga.  More than 90% of the teachers  posted in the schools  were young  girls. They were only High School  pass, but the scale given to them was the same as given  to Graduates. All of a sudden the marriage market became alert. Most of  the  yoga  teachers got married within one year.

Yoga became very  popular . Yoga camps are set up regulary in many areas . Yoga aims to unite the body , mind and the soul. Yoga helps people of all ages. Whether you are 28 or 82 yoga can help you. In many colonies in Delhi  yoga classes are conducted. Some exercises are very popular. Deep breathing is very helpful for relaxation.
I am not going into the details of  various  exercises. This post is meant to to bring an awareness among the people about the benefits of yoga.

Xcellence

Xcellence

A person who possesses the following  six qualities can be considered to be an excellent person. These qualities are

1.Passion
2. Motivation
3.Competence

4.Vision
5.Innovation
6. Inspiration.
An  excellent  person gives great priority to his work. For him work is worship.

Excellence means to achieve perfection in all  activities. Such persons  are so much devoted to their work that for them  their work is the only reality in  life. Moreover a person with extraordinary  qualities is an all rounder   in public relations. He treats his subordinates in a very  informal  and affectionate manner.

He is very competent and can judge  the points  to be included  in any  assignment  allotted to him.  Charles Dickens once  said,‘’My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well;  I have devoted myself  completely;  that in great aims and in small assignmrnts, I have always been thoroughly in earnest.’’
We cannot ‘’teach’’ excellence to our children.  We can aspire to inculcate good  qualities in  them. They can be  motivated to   undertake responsibilities from an early age.

If we can train our youth to undertake responsibilities from childhood and become independent,  we can be assured  that as they grow  up  they  will  become excellent  citizens of the country.
