Black and white.

If.  you happen to read the matrimonial  column of a newspaper on any Sunday. you will find more than half of the boys require  a  fair  good looking and  a  well  educated girl with a good family back ground  as a wife.  Where will the dark and unfair  girls go ?Unless possessed of a high education and well endowed with material  possessions she finds herself in the last ladder of the matrimonial rung  Take any other field  It will not be free from discrimination. A  white complexions  always attracts.
In our society dark people  are conscious of themselves.
A boy goes for an interview. He was very dark. No one sat beside en the result was notified, There was  commotion ,he had cleared. If the relatives, neighbours and society at large accept that dark  skinned people , they will be contributing a lot for  such
 people.
Long age I saw a movie which that a a young couple  about to get married, appeared for IAS examination. The girl was dark . After marriage. the girl was driven away  from home. The girl was strong enough no  to go her her parents. She went to a friend's house for one  night.here after she requested the  Department to post her in some remote area.
After fifteen years, she was declared the most efficient officer. She had to receive the award from the President of the country!!!! Just imagine the wife being rewarded and the husband who discarded her simply because she was dark complexioned. Some people may be anxious to know what happen end to her husband. He married another lady, very fair ad perhaps the only daughter of his boss. But she was suffering from  several ailments, leading a miserable life with her husband.
But was this incident sufficient to change the  society??

  1. Very true and very sad! The discrimination based on skin colour is age-old, and probably ingrained in the genes. But I do think, the new generation is growing past this regressive thinking and more interested in finding like-minded soul-mates! After all, beauty is but skin-deep!

  2. Very well pointed out. This discrimination is entrenched in society and this social conditioning over the years is a major put off.

  3. Very well said. This discrimination is deeply rooted in our society. Promises to make someone fair are the the USP of most creams which are doing brisk business. Hope the younger generation will make a difference!

  4. Gender and colour bias have been ingrained into the Indian society. But I feel that a change is near, and things will improve for the better.

    1. Thanks Shanaya, it is unfortunate that this system has entered the very roots of society.

  5. Something that needs to change, the "need" for fairness. I hope that change is on the horizon.
