Part 2 Hindi film songs UBC Day 21

I had presented some old songs yesterday. I continue with the progress made in this field.
In the year 1970 and  onwards Amitabh Bacchan and Rajesh  Khanna were the ruling stars. Kishore Kumar was in full form. Hence the songs of this era were also among the best in the Hindi Film Industry. Binaca Geet Mala, which used to play Hindi film music announced the most popular songs of the week. Film lovers used to keep glued to their radio sets, listening  to Binaca Geet Mala, guessing which song would take the lead.
This song is from the movie Amar, Akbar, Anthony It was  a super hit song. In fact all the songs of this movie became very popular.

Rajesh Khanna's  songs , sung in his peculiar style became very popular. Here is a song which was a rage in those days.Jai jai Shiv Shankar. Mumtaz was the heroine and the movie was Aap ki kasam.

In the 90's Hindi film songs were fascinated by western music. The soft music gave way to loud  music, which was very popular among the youngsters, The craze started with the songs directed by R D Burman. The following song is from the film Sholay.

And now the latest hit song from the film Kick, which stars Salman Khan.Just  see the difference  between  the' old and new'.  The  famous quotation of Tennyson "the old order changeth yielding place to new"  is very apt.

The latest craze among the  younger generation is Honey Singh.  Every where  the songs of Honey Singh are played and raise a storm.

Which songs do you like ? The old or new ? I love old ones. The saying that  'old is gold' is very apt here.

  2. Love the old melodious ones a lot from AAA and so many sung my the timeless Kishore-da and of course RD Burman who revolutionized music. Superb music. Love the 90s loads and quite a few songs from today that stand up. But nothing beats not just 70s but 50s and 60s. The songs from Silsila was something to die for as well as Anand and Aradhna..It took the nation by storm. I am a die hard of Amitabh Bachchan and so u can understand how biased I am:)

  4. Aap ki kasam has some wonderful songs, like your post points out, music has been evolving with time and people's taste seems to have changed. But I enjoy a song that has hummable tune and meaningful lyrics...
